Mammy, have you heard? A Mrs Brown's Boys/Benidorm cross-over could well be on the cards.

Whether you love them or hate them, you could soon be seeing two of the UK's biggest sitcoms collide - well, if Mrs Brown's Boys' Brendan O'Carroll gets his way, that is.

Chatting to The Mirror, Benidorm's Sherrie Hewson (who plays Joyce Temple-Savage on the show) revealed that Brendan recently requested a cheeky cameo.

"Another person who asked me to ask [Benidorm boss] Derren [Litten] about coming on the show was Brendan O'Carroll from Mrs Brown's Boys," Sherrie revealed.

"He said to me, 'Couldn't we all just come into the hotel and check in as a family? Even if you don't see us again, just come in, check us all in, take no notice of us, just that scene, and then you don't see them?'"

Hewson added: "It's lovely that so many people want to be on the show."

ITV's hit series Benidorm returns for its 9th series this Wednesday (March 1).

The first episode of the latest series sees the Dawsons' holiday start with a bang when Eddie has an accident, while Sheron's fashion taste is called into question.

Elsewhere, an old inheritance puts a smile on Kenneth's face, and Tiger and Joey are in a party mood as Sam, the new holiday rep, takes them under her wing.

While we can all agree that sounds promising, getting to see a certain Mrs B enjoying happy hour wouldn't exactly go amiss either.
