Much loved Bristol restaurant relocating due to Premier Inn redevelopment

A much loved Bristol Chinese restaurant has announced it will be relocating due to the redevelopment of its current site. Mayflower, which is situated at the Haymarket, shared the news to its Instagram page on May 16, and confirmed its closing date will be in late June.

Dubbing it an 'important announcement', the post read: "Dear valued customers, After 20 incredible years at the Haymarket, we have some big news to share with you all. Due to redevelopment plans for our current site, we will be relocating to a new premises.

"This decision hasn’t been an easy one, as we’ve built so many memories and cherished moments here. However, we are excited about this new chapter and the opportunities it brings. We want to take this moment to express our heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you.

"Your unwavering support over the years has been the cornerstone of our success. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for choosing us as your dining destination, for sharing your celebrations and milestones with us, and for making our restaurant feel like home.

The news comes following approval of plans for the Premier Inn Haymarket site to be demolished and two new tower blocks of student flats to be built in its place, which looks set to span 28 storeys high - making it the tallest building in Bristol. Taking to the comments, fans of the Mayflower called it the 'end of an era', with one writing: "Had so many lovely memories there. Looking forward to the new restaurant."
