Much-loved Edinburgh eatery suddenly closes with heartfelt message to locals

A firm favourite with diners in Edinburgh has announced their sudden closure.

Chop House, which opened in Bruntsfield back in 2018 to rave reviews, closed their doors on Sunday for the very last time. Owners confirmed their Market Street restaurant would remain open.

They thanked loyal locals for their support, and wished new proprietors "all the best".

A spokesperson for Chop House said: "Chop House in Bruntsfield has been loved by locals and visitors alike since 2018 – and we’ve loved being in Bruntsfield!

"However as of yesterday the doors closed for the last time. We would like to thank our customers, the local community and the many friends we have made over the last 6 years.

"We wish the new proprietors all the best! However, it’s not goodbye! You can still visit us and enjoy your Chop House favourites at Market Street, in the heart of Edinburgh’s city centre.

"Any Chop House gift vouchers can still be used in our Market Street branch and we hope to see you there soon."

A recent review of the Bruntsfield spot on TripAdvisor reads: "Great meal and service on a dreich Edinburgh night.

"The Chateaubriand, hand cut chips, two sauces and bottle of wine were delicious which was exactly what my son and daughter-in-law had planned for us by giving us the perfect gift of a Chop House gift voucher. Hoping to return again for another super steak meal!"

Another from Joy Martin said: "Amazing food very good atmosphere the manager in duty was very polite very confident and friendly I really recommend the place the steak was amazingly cooked and marinated."

A third stated: "We visited as a party of 5 on a Thursday evening and the staff were very helpful and able to fit us in. The atmosphere is great, food good and staff polite and friendly. A little on the pricey side but all in all, a nice experience."
