A hotel in Mullion has donated £2,000 towards a school's digital Advantage Project.

Hotel Polurrian, based on the Lizard Peninsula, donated the funds to Mullion Primary School through its school partnership programme which has enabled the purchase of 80 stylus pens to complement the iPad provision.

All Truro and Penwith Academy Trust (TPAT) schools benefit from the provision as part of the Advantage Project.

The project provides pupils and staff with access to the latest digital teaching and learning tools, promising a modern educational experience in Cornish schools.

Rob Chirgwin, headteacher of Mullion Primary School, said: “Last year, we embarked on our Advantage Project, transforming our teaching and learning through technology.

“One of the aims of this is to ensure our children have the same equitable education that children further up the line will receive.

“To ensure this, we invested in iPads for all children from Year 4 and upwards. This has had impact and really revolutionised the way teachers can deliver learning to pupils.

“With school budgets being so tight, we would not have been able to purchase these wonderful stylus resources without this kind of donation.

“The stylus pens are designed to make using an iPad easier and we wish to thank the Hotel Polurrian for its donation.”

The hotel also held a ‘meet and greet’ careers event for Year 6 pupils which served as an exposure to diverse career options in the hospitality sector such as hotel management, PR, marketing and events, food and beverage, construction, and landscape design.

Andrew Long, owner of Hotel Polurrian, said: “Hotel Polurrian is committed to supporting our local community and investing in the future of our young people.

“We believe that by providing these resources and experiences it will equip children with the skills and inspiration they need to achieve their goals.

“We have been delighted to support Mullion Primary School during the 2023 and 2024 academic year.”
