Multiple Powerlines Explode in Luquillo as Hurricane Fiona Hits

Around one million people were affected by power outages in Puerto Rico, after Hurricane Fiona brought strong winds and heavy rain to the island on Monday, September 19.

Video recorded by Twitter user @monzeeeki shows two powerlines exploding during heavy rainfall in Luquillo, a town on the country’s north east coast.

The company that operates Puerto Rico’s power grid, LUMA Energy, urged residents to stay away from downed powerlines as repairs were being made. Credit: @monzeeeki via Storyful
