Yahoo News Mum pleads guilty to murdering two sons and planning to kill her other four children
A sobbing mum has pleaded guilty to murdering her two sons, aged 13 and 14, and planning to kill her other four children in their Sheffield home.
Sarah Barrass, 35, faces life in prison after teens Tristan and Blake Barrass died just 12 minutes apart in May.
She broke down at a hearing in Sheffield Crown Court as she admitted conspiracy to murder six children plus five counts of attempted murder.
All of the surviving children are aged under 13.
The mum appeared alongside family member Brandon Machin, 37, who also pleaded guilty to the same charges at Sheffield Crown Court.
The pair were expected to face trial but on Friday dramatically entered last minute pleas.
“No words of mine can ever fully reflect the enormity of what you have both done,” said Judge Jeremy Richardson QC.
"The crimes you have committed quite frankly speak for themselves. The murder of two children.
"The attempted murder of four children and the over-arching conspiracy to murder those children.
"I repeat, those crimes speak for themselves.
“I have little doubt that each of you will in due course be sentenced to several terms of life imprisonment.
"This may well be a case, but it's a matter for the judge, where a whole life order is imposed."
The pair will be sentenced on November 12.
No details were given in court about what happened to the children inside the house in the Shiregreen area of Sheffield on May 24 and May 25 this year.
Tristan was pronounced dead at 9.14am, while Blake died at 9.26.am.
South Yorkshire Police has never released the cause of the two boys' death and it was not given when an inquest was opened earlier this year.
The brothers were laid to rest together in one coffin.
They were escorted with an enormous cortege of 300 motorcycles and two Lamborghini cars.
