Many of us enjoy a quick coffee and pastry while out, but with the cost of living on the rise, this habit can become quite pricey.

To combat this, one savvy mum and influencer has shared her secret to creating a homemade version of Costa Coffee's beloved chocolate pastry twists at a fraction of the price.

Casey Major-Bunce, who goes by @majormumhacks on Instagram and TikTok, is famed for her clever household and lifestyle tips. In a recent post, she demonstrates how to whip up your own Costa-style chocolate pastry twists for just 58p each.

In a step-by-step video guide, Casey begins by saying: "Make these for 58p they're a fraction of the price and taste the same."

The clip shows Casey laying out puff pastry, then adding custard and chocolate chips before topping it with another pastry layer. She slices this into strips, twists them, and bakes them until they look identical to the high-street chain's offering, reports the Mirror.

In her caption, Casey encourages followers to "Save these for later. These easy chocolate pastry custard twists are amazing, and you can't tell the difference from the ones on the Costa menu."

She adds that it's not only a simple hack but also a fun baking activity to do with children, helping families to cut down on food expenses.

The recipe has been a massive hit online, with the Instagram post alone amassing over 59,000 likes and TikTok views soaring past a thousand.

Folks are questioning just how many of these treats one can indulge in without feeling guilty. One user quipped: "Yum! How many is ok to eat in one sitting though? #notaskingforafriend."

Another lamented the impact on their diet: "You've just totally ruined my diet. This looks so yummy! ".

Some were also taken aback upon discovering that custard was the secret ingredient, with a commenter revealing: "Omg I never knew they had custard in that's why they never taste the same when I make them usually."
