Muppets: Nintendo E3 Launches Disappoint Fans

Nintendo's E3 games event presentation has been branded "disappointing, boring and dull" by gamers.

While Sony announced long-awaited sequels and Microsoft announced backwards compatibility on Xbox One - the highlight of Nintendo's event was a space game starring a fox.

Nintendo teased Star Fox Zero last year but it used E3 to release the first concrete details about it.

The third-person space shooter series will feature additional vehicles, and is the first Star Fox game since 2006's Star Fox Command for Nintendo DS.

The quirky presentation was made, in part, by puppet versions of Nintendo bosses, including chief executive Satoru Iwata.

But it wasn't enough for Nintendo fans, who took to Twitter to vent their frustration with the company.

Gaming video blogger Tails said: "Nintendo was alright. Was it boring? At some points. Was it their worst E3? Probably."

Another, known as N3rdsTheWord, wrote: "Just finished the Nintendo Digital Event, that was pretty disappointing, not gonna lie."

A third added: "This Nintendo conference is so dull I feel like I could have slept in."

Nintendo's other main announcements:

:: An innovative new Mario title is coming soon

Mario Maker arrives on September 11, and allows gamers to create and play their own Mario stages.

The editor has several visual styles including the classic 2D look of the original Super Mario Bros.

:: New Zelda game details

The latest instalment of the 3DS game will be a multiplayer dungeon-crawler.

In it, players will work to solve puzzles and fight through dungeons.

Nintendo said the setting is "full of fashion-savvy people".

:: Metroid Prime details

The next instalment of the franchise will feature four-player co-operative missions and three-on-three "sci-fi sports battles".

:: Release date revealed for new Yoshi title

Yoshi's Woolly World was announced before E3, but executives revealed that it will be released in October.

It is the first home console Yoshi game since 1997.

The side-scrolling platform game lets you unravel enemies and interact with the loosely stitched world.
