Murder inquiry after man and woman found dead in Oxford

A murder investigation has been launched after a man and a woman were found dead at a block of flats in Oxford.

A man, 37, died after falling from an upper floor of Foresters Tower in Wood Farm Road, Headington, at about 9.15pm on Tuesday.

A woman aged 42 was found with severe neck injuries on the fourth floor and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two people were known to each other.

Thames Valley Police have opened a murder investigation but are not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths.

Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Bosley said the pair were found in "suspicious circumstances".

He said: "I appreciate the concern that this will cause in the local community, but I would like to re-assure the public that we believe there is no wider threat and that we are not looking for anybody else in connection with this incident."

Police have informed the woman's next of kin - but they have not been able to find the man's family.

Anyone with information should call 101, quoting URN 1469 (24/9).
