With warmer weather finally here, millions of Brits will be all but running to the coast this weekend to soak up the sunshine - and right here in the North East, we're lucky to have dozens of beaches to choose from.

Whether you're planning to head down to one of North Tyneside's sandy stretches such as the Blue Flag award-winning Whitley Bay, Tynemouth Longsands or King Edward's Bay, or taking a trip out to the picturesque Northumberland coastline, you will be spoiled for choice when it comes to enjoying summer by the sea. But how many of the region's seafronts do you know?

We have put together a picture quiz to see whether you can identify which beach you're looking out over by looking at just one image from Google Maps. If you've ever taken a stroll along some of these seafronts with an ice cream or your dog, you may recognise some of their landmarks - but others might prove trickier to figure out.

Keep a look out for castles, beach huts, statues and other clues that might help you to identify where each of the seafronts are located. Some may be given away by their distinct shape or geographical features, from coves to long stretches and from cliffs to sand dunes - all of which hold their own beauty and are well worth adding to your must-visit list for the coming months.

There are 10 seafronts to guess in total from across Northumberland, Tyneside, Sunderland and County Durham - how many can you name correctly? If you get them all right, treat yourself to a trip down to your nearest North East beach this weekend. Take the quiz below!
