The National Television Awards aired last night (January 22) and somewhat predictably, EastEnders' Danny Dyer swore live on TV.

However, viewers are confused as to why host Dermot O'Leary apologised after Danny said "f**k" a couple of times, mere minutes after the 9pm watershed.

"I can't believe that wow, thank you. I want to thank all my EastEnders mob, I love you so much honestly, you're like my brothers and sisters," Danny said.

"I just want to say to all you young kids living in poverty, who don't think they have a right to hope or dream or believe, do not let where you've come from define where you're going in life. You can be whoever you want to be," he said.

"I want to dedicate this award to Harold Pinter, a man I love very, very much and I miss him.

"He believed in me when no-one else did. I'm getting all f**king emotional, I don't know what's the matter with me, for f**k's sake.

"I live by two rules: curb your ego, nourish your soul, goodnight," he continued.

After his swears, Dermot apologised and joked: "Yeah, we’re sorry about that. Don’t give the award to Danny Dyer!"

In response, one viewer tweeted: "Trying to tell me they didn't think Danny Dyer would be swearing if he got on stage? Give me a break!"

Another asked: "Why did @radioleary apologise for Danny Dyer swearing it was past 9pm?"

"Here comes moaners, moaning on about Danny Dyer swearing on live TV past 9pm! Come on, really," wrote a third.
