It's been 13 years since National Treasure: Book of Secrets was released, but at last a sequel is on the way over at Disney.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, there's been a change of personnel behind the scenes, with Bad Boys for Life writer Chris Bremner hired to work on the screenplay this time around instead of Cormac and Marianne Wibberley.

Disney will be hoping Bremner can finally get this project across the line, as previous scripts for National Treasure 3 were reportedly not good enough to see a film get made.

The big question on everybody's lips will be: 'Is Nicolas Cage back for this one?' but unfortunately we don't know just yet.

However, across the past decade, Cage has been vocally involved with the development of a third film, so you'd imagine he's definitely interested in reprising his role of treasure hunter Benjamin Franklin Gates.

What we do know about National Treasure 3 is that producer Jerry Bruckheimer is back again, which can only be a good thing for the consistency of the franchise.

Keep your eyes peeled for further announcements, including whether or not Justin Bartha's sarcastic sidekick Riley Poole and director Jon Turteltaub are returning.
