Neighbours first look at Sophie Ellis-Bextor filming London episodes

Neighbours has offered a first look at Sophie Ellis-Bextor on set.

The singer was recently announced to be joining the show in a cameo role as part of a special London storyline airing in 2022.

Viewers will see Harlow Robinson, played by Jemma Donovan, surprised to see the star. Harlow is in London hoping to resolve a family mystery relating to her late mother Prue Wallace, and a conversation with Sophie proves to be helpful as the singer offers words of wisdom.

"Neighbours was a huge part of my school days," she said. "We all watched it, talked about it. It's a joy to now be able to say I've been in it!

"Thanks to everyone from the cast and crew for being so lovely. I loved it."

Sophie isn't the only star to make an appearance for the London episodes. Amanda Holden will also feature, playing Harriet – Harlow's aunt and Prue's sister – as she helps her niece investigate the mystery.

Previously-released pictures showed Amanda and Jemma filming in the Waterloo area.

Executive producer Jason Herbison teased that these episodes, scheduled for the spring, will "serve as the launch of a huge new storyline".

Filming for the London episodes was completed earlier this week.

Harlow's current storylines have seen her trying to get ahead at Lassiters and reacting to the potential separation between Paul Robinson and Terese Willis. She will also get a surprise on UK screens late next week, with the return of a familiar face.

Neighbours airs weekdays at 1.45pm and 5.30pm on Channel 5 (UK) and Mondays to Thursdays at 6.30pm on 10 Peach (Australia).
