Neighbours spoilers follow for UK viewers.

Neighbours newcomer Nicolette Stone is gearing up for a tense showdown with her mother Jane Harris after her return to Ramsay Street.

In scenes set to air next week, Nicolette (played by The Verge star Charlotte Chimes) is stunned to learn that Jane (returning actress Annie Jones) is making a return to Erinsborough.

After Jane arrives, she admits to Paul, Terese, Karl and Susan that she doubts Nicolette would want to see her and recounts their latest disagreement.

As Jane explains, things have been fraught between Nicolette and herself ever since her daughter told her that she'd rushed into her marriage with Des Clarke (Paul Keane), prompting Jane to kick Nicolette out of the house.

Later, however, it is revealed that the animosity between them goes back even further than that, as Nicolette and Jane clash once again after they finally agree to meet.

After Terese manages to convince Nicolette that her mum really wants to make amends, the pair meet up. But as tensions between rise during the frosty get-together, Nicolette reminds Jane of her hurtful reaction to her coming out as a lesbian back when she was a teenager.

Things go from bad to worse, too, when Jane then accuses Nicolette of purposely sabotaging her romance due to her decade-long grudge.

In a last ditch attempt to patch things up and keep her daughter from moving back to Canberra, Jane persuades Clive (Geoff Paine) to offer Nicolette some work at the hospital.

However, when Nicolette finds out that she didn't get the job on her own merits, she's left furious. Will the mother and daughter duo ever be able to repair their relationship?

Neighbours airs these scenes on Wednesday, August 12 and Friday, August 14 at 1.45pm and 5.30pm on Channel 5.
