Neighbours' Shane Rebecchi struggles with more guilt today (October 14) as he blames himself for Mackenzie Hargreaves' latest setback.

Shane (Nicholas Coghlan) felt terrible last week when Mackenzie's father Grant failed to turn up to support her at the school formal, despite being invited. This prompted Shane to step in to take Grant's place in the father-daughter dance.

In today's episode, Shane remains downbeat as he ponders over Grant's failure to come through for Mackenzie (Georgie Stone) when she needed him most.

Dipi (Sharon Johal) and Toadie (Ryan Moloney) both point out that Mackenzie seems fine about what happened, but Shane isn't so sure and fears that it's all his fault.

As revealed recently, Shane once encouraged Grant to take a prejudiced approach after learning that Mackenzie is trans. This led to the breakdown of Mackenzie's family.

Mackenzie assured Shane that she's not holding him responsible for Grant's behaviour, especially after all of the support he has shown her over the past few weeks.

Despite this, Toadie can't help noticing that Shane still seems to be carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders.

Toadie is desperate for Shane to forgive himself, rather than being hung up over mistakes that he made years ago. Can Shane let go of the past?

Neighbours airs these scenes today at 1.45pm and 5.30pm on Channel 5 (UK) and 6.30pm on 10 Peach (Australia).
