Neil Doncaster owes Rangers answers on a postcard as Hotline motions to RELEGATE Dundee and their shambolic pitch

It's the morning after the night before and we should have been talking about a night of Premiership action at Dens Park.

But Dundee and Rangers will try again for the THIRD time next midweek with both clubs, supporters and the SPFL alike praying that the rain stays away and the pitch is deemed playable. Don Robertson called the game off at 3.30pm on Wednesday afternoon after as second pitch inspection with the league releasing a statement to confirm 'ongoing disciplinary proceedings' against the Dark Blues.

That theme grabbed the Hotline by the scruff of the neck. They offered their own punishments to serve up to John Nelms and Dens Park chiefs. Alfie Mullin, London said: "Dundee are almost as big of a joke as their neighbours across the road. They need to be fined for this farce of a situation. Don't they realise that football is played on pitches and they need ground staff to maintain these to a playable standard. If the same thing happens next season, they should get relegated."

Gordon McDonald emailed: "I used to have a soft spot for Dundee FC. Not any more, now I think they are incompetent fools and they should be deducted 12 points immediately. five games postponed already? They are screwing up the top of the league positions now, they must be punished."

Dundee's Eric Drysdale blamed CLIMATE CHANGE as part of the issue surrounding the playing surface. But punters were quick to point out Tannadice - the home of Dundee United - is only along the road and is fine. Drew Ferguson, Oban said: "So according to Dundee's Eric Drysdale climate change is responsible for the state of Dundee Football Clubs playing surface but does not seem to have the same affect on Tannadice 200 yards away - the game is run by fools."

Scott Gowers, Edinburgh said: "Dundee's claim regarding climate change when Tannadice next door has a decent surface with proper drainage is way off the mark. Even if Dundee wanted to blame climate change they knew about it way before the start of the season and should have spent on drainage rather than players. As for John Hartson blasting Rangers for complaining to the SPFL, Mr Hartson should remember that it's a clubs responsibility to ensure playing conditions are satisfactory throughout the season.

"I can understand a club being caught out once or twice by the weather but five times already is deplorable. Falkirk never got promoted as their stadium didn't hold 10,000 people, why should Dundee not be demoted as the stadium does not land in the fit for purpose criteria. Falkirk didn't get promoted so can anyone give a good reason Dundee shouldn't be demoted?"

John Bruce wrote in with many questions and is wanting answers, he said: "How long are the SPFL going to pander to Dundee FC instead of punishing them? Does climate change only affect one half of Tannadice Street? When will the thousands of Rangers fans who travel from all over the UK, including Northern Ireland, be taken in to consideration when these games are cancelled?

"What will happen if it rains next Tuesday and Wednesday? Who will recompense these fans for travel and accommodation expenses? Will we now have a winter break in April? What will Sky have to say in their next round of negotiations for Scottish football on TV? Or will we just blunder blindly on? Answers on a postcard, please, Mr. Doncaster."

The theme of supporters not being considered in all of these late call-offs in terms of expenses and work management was a thene amongst callers. Gary Stevenson, Newtonhill said: "So let me get this right. Dundee's contingency plan was to wait until the rain went off! With Rangers Football Club and their fans being seriously out of pocket and the football world laughing at our so called top division. I do not blame Tony Docherty or the players but the top brass must be heavily sanctioned for this episode."

Stuart McLeod messaged: "Someone needs to be held responsible for the late call-offs in the Dens fiasco. I was halfway there last time when the match was called off and took a half day yesterday to travel to Dundee. Both times money down the drain this is cash I won't get back and another stadium on the list to which I won't return."

One caller flipped the switch onto Rangers and asked why they didn't help Dundee like rivals Celtic with covers with another insisting the club quick to come out and slam Dens Park but have had nothing to say about crowd 'missiles' from Ibrox last weekend. Peter Lyons, Blantyre said : "Here is one for you. If Rangers wanted this game on so badly then instead of moaning about a possible cancelation why did Rangers not give any help [ as Celtic did for Dundee] in supplying covers ? Sounds suspicious to me."

Paul McCardle, Largs said: "Rangers seem to have a problem with the rain in Dundee but have nothing much to say about bottles raining down at Ibrox!"
