Neil Lennon gives big hearted donation to Tam McCourt's funeral costs as he pens poignant message for Hibs hero

Big-hearted Neil Lennon has donated £200 towards the funeral costs of legendary late Hibs kitman Tam McCourt.

Lennon is currently in Slovenia for pre-season preparations with new club Rapid Bucharest but the Irishman took time out make a financial contribution - and pay tribute - on a fundraising page set up for McCourt.

The justgiving.com page is aiming to raise £5000 "to assists with funeral expenses and to buy a memorial bench for Tam McCourt" who Lennon worked alongside during his time in the Easter Road hot-seat. Lennon posted the message "Will miss you Tam" next to his £200 donation. McCourt, who started out as a groundsman at Hibs, passed away earlier this month. Scotland star John McGinn got to know him at Hibs before the midfielder moved to Aston Villa and spoke of his sadness at his passing.

McGinn, speaking while in Germany for Euro 2024, said: "Wee Tam was the first person I saw when I walked through the door at Hibs. He was an absolutely amazing guy. Unless you wanted. Pair of fresh socks or a fresh towel. He always gave me the crusty ones because I would wind him up.

"I can’t get Joyce (wife) and Thomas (son) out my head and just on behalf of all us Hibees, especially me and Porto (Ryan Porteous), over the last few days, we’re thinking of the you and the family”.
