Marvel's The Defenders – Netflix's newest original series – could be one of the site's biggest hits ever.

Why? Because four of Marvel's preceding series – Daredevil season 2, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist – were among the top five most-viewed recently released Netflix originals in the first 30 days after their premieres.

According to data from marketing-analytics firm Jumpshot, provided to Variety, Daredevil took the number one spot, followed by 13 Reasons Why, then Iron Fist, Luke Cage and Jessica Jones.

In the top ten was House of Cards in sixth place, followed by Stranger Things in seventh, with Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt at number 8, Fuller House at number 9, and Orange Is the New Black in the tenth spot.

Meanwhile, eight-part miniseries The Defenders launched on Netflix last week – and it pulled off an unexpected twist at the end of episode six, which left fans stunned.

It will be followed later this year by The Punisher, with new seasons of Jessica Jones, Daredevil, Luke Cage and Iron Fist also confirmed.

However, Finn Jones – who plays Danny Rand / Iron Fist – told Digital Spy that The Defenders "feels like the end of Phase One" and "the beginning of another phase".

"Let's just say there are certain events that happen at the end of The Defenders which are going to rock everyone's world," he hinted. "So people aren't going to be the same after the end of The Defenders."

The Defenders is available to watch on Netflix right now.
