Netflix has released the first trailer for the upcoming Castlevania spin-off Nocturne. You can watch the trailer above.

Following the success of the animated series, based on the popular video game franchise, the streaming platform announced Nocturne back in 2022.

Castlevania: Nocturne focuses on Richter Belmont, and will be set in 1792 during the French Revolution.

The trailer gives fans a first look at Richter in action, teasing the traumatic events in his childhood that turned him into a master vampire hunter. We also get a glimpse of the show's roster of allies and villains, plus a taste of the high octane anime-inspired action that fans love.

A new poster was released, featuring Richter clutching a whip in his hand as snow falls around him.

With the tagline: "I pray for you, Richter Belmont", the poster confirms a September 28 release date for Castlevania: Nocturne.

The spin-off will see Richter take over the reins of vampire hunter from his ancestor Trevor, drawing inspiration from two of the acclaimed Konami games – Castlevania: Rondo of Blood and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.

Castlevania: Nocturne will be led by the original show's creator Kevin Kolde, alongside writer Clive Bradley, whose previous credits include Trapped and Waking the Dead.

Not much is known about the plot of the show, but what we do know is Outlander star Sophie Skelton will voice Julia Belmont, a character who will be new to fans.

Trevor Belmont's story was brought to an explosive close in Castlevania's season four finale during a battle at Castle Dracula, in which he banished Death himself using old magic.

However, one final twist saw Dracula and Lisa alive and well in mysterious circumstances.

Castlevania: Nocturne will be released on September 28 on Netflix. All four series of Castlevania can be streamed on Netflix now.
