Netflix is down for thousands of people across the world with users begging the streaming service to “please fix” the issues.

The outage appears to have hit around 7pm UK time - but also seems to be impacting users in China, America, Canada and across Europe.

Users are complaining either of slow service or it not working at all. Others suggested their Netflix came back to life briefly before cutting out again.

“www.netflix.com is currently unable to handle this request,” some users said a holding page of the service read.

Unable to access their television shows and movies, fans flooded social media with complaints.

“Netflix is down and I really don’t want it to be so pls fix it,” one wrote.

“My Netflix is down now what am I gonna do??? Productive s**t ? Absolutely not,” a Twitter user said.

Another, called Kara, wrote: “Now is not the time for Netflix to be down.”

Max Richardson added: “Bloody typical - finally get round to watching [thriler series] Squid Game, decide that I love it, and Netflix goes down!”

Earlier today, it was revealed that one of Netflix’s most popular shows - Sex Education - was influencing people’s baby name choices in the UK.

The names Maeve and Otis, which are shared by Otis Milburn and Maeve Wiley from the comedy-drama, have both climbed the rankings of the most popular names given to children born in 2020.

Otis was among the “largest movers” in the top 100 boys’ names list, rising 28 places to 96th, the ONS said.

Maeve has risen 124 places since 2019 to reach 94th in the rankings.

Sex Education tells the story of Otis, played by Asa Butterfield, and his sex therapist mother Jean (Gillian Anderson), as he navigates his way through secondary school.

His close friend Maeve is played by actress Emma Mackey.

Series three of the programme, which began in 2019, was released in the UK in September.

Meanwhile, Netflix confirmed that popular thriller series You has been renewed for a fourth season.

The news was announced days before the eagerly awaited season three premiere on Friday.

You stars Penn Badgley as the murderous Joe Goldberg while Victoria Pedretti appears as his wife, Love.

Season three will see the couple attempting to run from their bloody pasts in an idyllic California town but a trailer for the new episodes shows more trouble is on the way.
