Yahoo News Netflix confirm Top Boy season 5 is happening! Here's what we know
We've spent the last month thinking *almost exclusively* about Top Boy and only Top Boy. Since the latest series dropped on Netflix (Netflix's second but fourth overall), fans have had a lot of questions about the return of Dushane, Sully and everyone else. First up, we wanted to know where exactly Jamie, Stef and Aaron's parents have got to. Then, we needed a little clarification on that ending, and finally - the biggest question of all - we need to know if there's going to be another series of the Netflix show. Here's everything we know about Top Boy season 5.
Has Top Boy season 5 been confirmed?
Yes! As of 31 March 2022, Netflix confirmed Top Boy season 5 was happening. In a statement, they wrote, "Following the release of TOP BOY Season 2 on Netflix on 18th March 2022, the show quickly went to number 1 in the UK as audiences switched on to watch Jamie get out of prison and disrupt Dushane’s unrivalled rule of Summerhouse, and Sully emerge from his reclusive life to ride out for family.
"The finale of the season left fans with their jaws-dropping. Now the stakes are at their highest and it’s time for the final reckoning."
Ashley Walters and Kane Robinson, who play Dushane and Sully said of the news: “For those that have followed the journey from the start, you will know how much this show means to everyone on our team and we wholeheartedly know how much it means to you. These characters have been a part of our lives for over a decade now and without everyone’s support we couldn’t have come this far.
"Whilst the journeys of Dushane and Sully have remained at the core of the show, the new characters that have entered the world of Top Boy have become a key part of the show’s legacy, representing each new storyline in a raw, authentic way.
"With all this being said, and staying true to our original goal, every story must have an ending and so season three will be our finale. A chance to come full circle and end the journey in the right way. We’re very excited about what’s next and thank you for riding with us. We appreciate you. See you again soon.”
Who will be starring in Top Boy season 5?
A case announcement hasn't been made yet, but judging by their above statement, Ashley and Kane will be back as Dushane and Sully.
It's also likely that Shelly (Little Simz), Jaqs (Jasmine Jobson), Stef, (Araloyin Oshunremi) and the rest of the supporting cast will return. Meanwhile, it looks like Ats (Keiyon Cook), Kit (Kadeem Ramsay) and Jamie (Micheal Ward) won't be in another series with all of them showing up dead at some point during season 4.

What is Top Boy season 5's expected release date?
At this stage we can't know without more information from Netflix, but they say filming will start on the next season "this summer". There was a solid year and a half between season three and four, but that's like due to Covid-19 related delays, so here's hoping that we won't have to wait quite as long for season five.
