A Scottish MP has said that he will be writing to Netflix regarding the shocking claims made by the sensational drama 'Baby Reindeer'.

Baby Reindeer follows comedian Richard Gadd in what is claimed is "a true story", as he deals with a female stalker and other horrific trauma. Which Deadline reports has had 674 million viewed minutes.

John Nicolson MP has been critical of the company over the show. He believes that evidence Netflix has given before the Culture Media and Sport Committee last week may have been inaccurate.

It came after Netflix executive Benjamin King said the show was "obviously a true story of the horrific abuse that the writer and protagonist Richard Gadd suffered at the hands of a convicted stalker". Knowingly misleading a committee is a contempt of Parliament, reports the BBC.

The SNP Shadow Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport told the BBC "it's clear that the evidence given by Netflix to the select committee is disputed".

Adding that "the charge made - of a conviction - is very important. Journalists can find no evidence to back up the Netflix claim".

Mr Nicolson said "I will be writing to Netflix to ask them to substantiate the claim they made."

It comes after the real life inspiration of 'Martha' one of the shows primary antagonists, Fiona Harvey, revealed herself as the muse of the character. Neither Netflix nor Gadd have confirmed or denied this.

Ms Harvey said that she categorically denied having been convicted for stalking, and denied stalking Richard Gadd. She even appeared on Piers Morgan Uncensored where she said that as a result of the show, she had received death threats.

She was paid £250 for the appearance, though has since said that she would be asking for £1 million. Piers Morgan said that that would not be happening.

There has not been any evidence produced that she has a conviction. It was reported that a writ was filed against her in a Scottish court by a lawyer who accused of harassment - more than 20 years ago. Ms Harvey said that it never went any further and she denied harassment.

The Daily Record understands that the 58-year-old was given a First Instance Harassment warning by the Met Police over her contact with Gadd.

Apart from the evidence to the Committee, Netflix has not made any comment since the controversy erupted.

We previously reported that Ms Harvey will sue Netflix with the help of a top UK lawyer who defended Ryan Giggs and killer Kenneth Noye. She is in talks with Chris Daw KC over claims that she was misrepresented.

Daw, 54, told the Record: "We will be looking to take forward a case against Netflix for damages in relation to the portrayal of the character, which was allegedly based on Fiona, in Baby Reindeer.”
