Netflix Renews Two Reality Series, Including The Ultimatum, as Unscripted Slate Expands

Netflix is investing heavily in its well-watched reality programming, renewing two unscripted series and ordering three new projects.

The reality dating series The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On and its spinoff The Ultimatum: Queer Love have been picked up for Season 3 and Season 2, respectively. A return date for Queer Love has not been announced, but Marry or Move On will be back for its third season in December.

Hosted by Nick and Vanessa Lachey (who also emcee Netflix’s Love Is Blind proceedings), The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On follows couples on the verge of marriage; one partner is ready to get married, the other isn’t. After an eight-week social experiment, and the opportunity to pair up with other partners from the remaining couples, each duo must either commit to marriage or split for good.

Queer Love, hosted by JoAnna García Swisher, uses the same conceit, but contestants are women and nonbinary people.

In addition to Thursday’s renewals, Netflix has ordered three more reality series: Selling the City, a Selling Sunset spinoff based in New York City; Building the Band, in which 50 singers form their own bands without ever laying eyes on each other (think Love Is Blind, but with music); and Battle Camp, in which alumni from Netflix’s other reality series compete in physical and mental challenges in pursuit of a $250,000 prize.

In the meantime, there’s plenty of other unscripted Netflix fare to watch this summer. Dating show Perfect Match returns for Season 2 on June 7 (see the full cast), The Mole is back for its second season on June 28, and Too Hot to Handle returns for Season 6 in July.
