Netflix has teased a first look at Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret in The Crown.

The third season of the regal drama will see the Ocean’s 8 actress take over from Vanessa Kirby as the Queen's sister.

In the image, teased by Netflix on Wednesday, Bonham Carter can be seen with her hair pulled back in as she stares down at a cigarette.

Alongside the snap, they simply wrote: “Hope.”

Netflix added: “Here's your first look at Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret in @TheCrownNetflix, coming 2019.”

Showrunner Peter Morgan told how he decided to recast the show every two seasons.

He explained: “You can’t ask someone to act middle-aged. Someone has to bring their own fatigue to it.

“The feelings we all have as 50-year-olds are different than the feelings we all have as 30-year-olds.”

The image comes just days after the show teased a first look at Olivia Colman in the upcoming series.

The British actress, 44, has taken over from Claire Foy as an older version of the monarch after the actress picked up a Golden Globe and an Emmy for the portrayal.

After keeping all plot points and character information under wraps, Netflix has now unveiled a sneak peak of Colman as the Queen.

The teaser image of Colman was accompanied by the caption: “Patience.”

The Crown season three is expected to air next year
