Ever gone on Netflix and stared blankly at the menu, not knowing what to watch and wishing that the sophisticated technology would just pick something for you?

Well, your prayers may soon be answered as the streaming service is now trying out a new button that picks TV episodes at random. Essentially, it's a shuffle button.

A Netflix spokesperson said in a statement: "We are testing the ability for members to play a random episode from different TV series on the Android mobile app. These tests typically vary in length of time and by region, and may not become permanent."

Some of the shows Netflix will be testing on the new button include The Office, Our Planet, Arrested Development and New Girl.

The test, which is currently ongoing in the US, allows users the ability to see the random episode button, and they'll also be able to "play a popular episode" from the main menu.

Digital Spy has reached out to Netflix to find out whether the test or a permanent version of the random button will also be coming to the UK.

The streaming giant will have some serious competition soon, as Disney recently put on a major presentation for its Disney+ service.

This new platform from the House of Mouse will host thousands of hours of television and hundreds of movies. Not only that, but it'll also have a substantial impact on how Marvel and Star Wars producers Lucasfilm – both owned by Disney – go about their business in the future.
