New on Netflix in September 2023: Best movies and TV shows from Top Boy to Sex Education

Wondering what's new on Netflix? September looks to be a packed month on the streamer with old favourites returning and a number of reality hits also making their way back onto the platform.

Hit shows Sex Education and Top Boy will be returning for their respective final seasons, while several big movie collections are also arriving so that September is looking to be an interesting month on Netflix.

Elsewhere in the month, reality show Love is Blind is returning for its fifth season, where singles looking for love try to find it with a person they are unable to look at.

Other reality shows like Glow Up and Selling the OC will be returning for new seasons in September, while Love is Blind reunion show After the Alter is also coming back for a season 4 special.

Matt Groening's animated fantasy comedy Disenchantment will also be ending in September with its fifth season, which premieres in full on 1 September.

On the movie front, Netflix will be bringing Wes Anderson's latest short film The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar to the small screen, as well as Pablo Larrain's Chilean vampire comedy The Count over the course of the month.

New movies coming to Netflix UK in September 2023

Love At First Sight | 15 September

Based on a novel by Jennifer E. Smith, Love at First Sight is a rom-com that will have viewers swooning as it tells the Hadley and Oliver who have a chance encounter at the airport.

The film stars Haley Lu Richardson, Ben Hardy, Jameela Jamil, and Rob Delaney, and sees sparks fly between its main characters as they discover an instant attraction.

The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar | 27 September

Wes Anderson has a love for Roald Dahl's work having previously adapted Fantastic Mr Fox into a feature-length film, and the auteur is returning to the author again but this time for a series of short films.

The short film sees the director reunite with The Grand Budapest Hotel's Ralph Fiennes, while it also stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Dev Patel, Ben Kingsley, Rupert Friend and Richard Ayoade.

New TV shows coming to Netflix UK in September 2023

Disenchantment, part 5 | 1 September

Return to Dreamland for one final adventure, the critically acclaimed show is back for its final outing with Princess Bean (Abbi Jacobson) try to save the world once and for all.

Top Boy season 3 | 7 September

Return to Summerhouse for the third and final season of Top Boy, which will be the fifth overall for the franchise). The final episodes will once again follow Dushane (Ashley Walters), Sully (Kane Robinson) and the rest of the Summerhouse gang as they try to better their lives on the estate by building a drug empire.

In Season 3, Dushane and Sully come to have a target on their back and they are forced to face enemies new and old in the process.

Virgin River season 5 part 1 | 7 September

Netflix's hit series Virgin River will be back for the first half of its fifth season, the feel-good show will be full of drama this time around with new relationships, break-ups and also a wild fire taking place.

Sex Education season 4 | 21 September

It's time for viewers to bid farewell to the students at Moordale as Sex Education is also coming to an end, season 4 will see the characters entering sixth form as they tackle new challenges in their lives.

Love is Blind season 5 | 22 September

A new array of hopeful singles are making their way to Love is Blind in a bid to find romance, the fifth season will arrive on the platform on 22 September with new episodes arriving every Friday until the show's finale on October 13.
