It's the big one this weekend at Newcastle Racecourse, with the Northumberland Plate now just a few days and away and, for anyone who is going on Saturday, the dress code for the annual event has now been confirmed.

One of the biggest dates in the Tyneside social calendar, Plate Day always pulls in big crowds and this year should be no different, with the added pull of three big music performances across the weekend, from Madness on Friday night, Hacienda Classical after the final horse has passed the post on Saturday and JLS doing the entertaining on Sunday.

Tickets have been on sale for various different enclosures at the Racecourse for Plate Day and where you are on Saturday dictates what dress code rules you need to follow.

Racing on Saturday will get going at 1.50pm, with the last one at 5.50pm.

Grandstand

There is no dress code in the Grandstand and, while visitors are asked to dress suitably for the weather conditions, thankfully it doesn't look like there will be any rain on Saturday, with temperatures expected to peak at 18 and the forecast predicting a cloudy day.

Hospitality and Premier Enclosure

Hospitality areas and the Premier Enclosure operate a smart casual dress code. Sportswear, trainers and fancy dress are not permitted. Shirts must have a collar, though a tie is not essential. Smart jeans and tailored shorts are acceptable.
