Newcastle United 1-1 Spurs half-time player ratings: Some flat displays in post-season clash

Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur are on even terms at the break here in Melbourne.

Judging by the sweat pouring out of the Newcastle players they are getting a good post-season work out in the balmy conditions. But they fell behind to a strike from James Maddison that probably wouldn't have counted in the Premier League.

A clear handball was missed by the referee but it still counted. Newcastle came back from behind when Bruno Guimaraes picked out Jacob Murphy before Alexander Isak tapped home.

Here's how the players rated in the second half:

Nick Pope 6

A poor backpass to let Spurs take the lead. But has made some other good stops.

Kieran Trippier 6

Still coming back to full fitness. Taken off after suffering a whack on his ankle and got away with conceding a penalty when taking out Son.

Emil Krafth 5

Has not had the greatest of nights. A poor early clearance almost let Spurs in and helpless to stop Maddison jinking around him for the goal.

Dan Burn 6

Usual battling qualities on display.

Lewis Hall 7

Newcastle haven't got him on the ball enough.

Bruno Guimaraes 7

Made the goal after driving run through the middle before picking out Murphy whose shot was saved by the keeper before Isak did what Isak does best.

Joelinton 7

Has quickly struck up a good understanding with Bruno again.

Elliot Anderson 6

Handed a chance and has worked hard in solid if unspectaular display so far.

Miguel Almiron 5

Newcastle tried to get him on the ball but has been flat.

Harvey Barnes 5

Has not really got into this one.

Alexander Isak 7

Has only had a couple of glimpses but showed why he is rated so highly by equalising and being in the right place at the right time.
