Newcastle United facing huge FFP call on senior stars as Trippier and four others attract interest

Newcastle United could have a decision to make on Kieran Trippier this summer - with a clutch of Saudi Pro League sides lurking for his services.

The England right-back's current contract runs out in summer 2025 and it remains to be seen whether Newcastle go down the road of offering him a new deal. Trippier was wanted by Bayern Munich last January when the defender was subject of a £12.8m bid which the Magpies snubbed, but despite a change in management there is still thought to be slight interest from the Bundesliga giants.

However, with the emergence of Tino Livramento at St James' Park plus the fact that Emil Krafth is deemed an able back-up, Newcastle may have to consider bids for the right-back as they look at all options when it comes to outgoing business.

Newcastle find themselves in a key moment when it comes to FFP and PSR and Callum Wilson, Martin Dubravka, Yankuba Minteh, Garang Kuol, Miguel Almiron and Matt Targett could also be players the club would entertain offers for in the coming months. Newcastle do have money to spend this summer, but also know they must drum up funds to keep their FFP situation healthy.

Moving Trippier on would be a huge call for Eddie Howe though. As the first signing of the takeover he has had a huge impact on Tyneside.

Howe fought to keep him last winter and despite a mid-season wobble in terms of form, the full-back served up an impressive 11 assists and a goal from his defensive role, not to mention his key role in the dressing room leadership group.

Reflecting on Bayern's interest last winter, Trippier said: "I never thought at 33-year-old that Bayern Munich would want to sign me, so it was more of a shock to me than anybody.

"Then I just got on the phone to the manager straight away and, to be honest, the manager knows the commitment I've got for the club. I never once tried to force a move out of the club."
