Newcastle United transfer message as decision made on England star and 48-goal striker

They are three players who have played a huge part in Newcastle United's progress in recent years - but all face an uncertain future this summer. Kieran Trippier, Callum Wilson and Miguel Almiron have been linked with moves away from St James' Park in the coming months as the Magpies look to move to the next stage of their squad development.

Head coach Eddie Howe has made no secret of the fact he values the contribution of each of those players, but with new signings expected to arrive before the season gets under way, there could be more departures to follow Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh out of the St James' Park exit door.

There can be no doubting the ability and commitment of all three, but how vital are they for United's future? We asked you to vote on which of the trio you would move on this summer, and who you should keep, and the results tell you all you need to know about Newcastle's summer transfer hopes.

England international Kieran Trippier is by the far the player most want to keep, with only eight per cent of fans responding to our WhatsApp poll feeling he should be moved on. Tino Livramento's development has meant there is a realistic alternative to Trippier, but the full-back still has plenty of offer United.

He may be turning 34 in September, but it seems fans have not forgotten the impact he has made at the club since becoming the first signing under the new owners in January 2022. Livramento may feature more often next season, but there is still an important place for Trippier in the squad.

Similarly with Wilson, the Newcastle No 9 holds has a close bond with the United faithful after scoring 48 goals in 108 appearances in black-and-white. Howe is a big fan of the former Bournemouth striker, but nagging doubts remain about his injury record after another season impacted by setbacks.

If Wilson was to leave - and West Ham are keen - then he would need to be replaced, which is no easy feat. That's perhaps why only 27 per cent opted to move him on, with buying a striker not the easiest of tasks, especially with Alexander Isak already established as the first choice for the role.

Almiron is a somewhat different case, with a strong vote in favour of selling the Paraguayan. He's now one of the club's longest serving players, having joined under Rafa Benitez, but with Newcastle targetting right-sided attacking players this summer, the feeling is it might be the right time for him to move.

Not that United wouldn't miss him - his workrate alone is phenomenal, and no one will forget his incredible goalscoring spree in the 2022-23 campaign. However, Jacob Murphy got the nod over Almiron towards the end of last season and with interest from Saudi clubs, it could be that his time on Tyneside will be coming to an end., if the fans vote is anything to go by.
