Elliot Anderson was quick to break his silence on brother Wil going on Love Island late on Thursday night, with the Newcastle United star taking to Instagram to publicly back his older sibling, after he was confirmed as a new bombshell on the dating show.

After growing speculation that ITV bosses were keen to sign Whitley Bay based quantity surveyor Will, his involvement in the new series was rubber stamped, when he appeared in a brief teaser at the end of Thursday's episode. The 23-year-old is one of three new arrivals set to shake up the villa, alongside Tiffany Leighton, a HR co-ordinator from Hertfordshire and Manchester social media marketing manager, Grace Jackson.

And, within moments of Will appearing on screen just before credits rolled on Thursday's edition of Love Island, fans at home were speculating on which girl he would be best suited to, with many taking to a post on the show's official X account to back Uma, while others predicted that Harriet could have her head turned again.

While not weighing in on any of that, Elliot, 21, did address Will's arrival on his Instagram, sharing the Love Island post about his brother and adding a starry eyed emoji.

When asked why he decided to go on Love Island, Will said: "I wanted to be single for the last year because I’ve been in two serious relationships from the age of 18 but, now I feel like it’s time to put myself back out there. I want to feel that love again."

Just as Will was getting ready to head to Majorca for Love Island, Elliot was on another island in the Balearics, as one of a number of Newcastle United players past and present to head to Ibiza for keeper Mark Gillespie's stag do; with the party also including Andy Carroll, Paul Dummett and Sandro Tonali.
