There are still twists and turns coming in the Premier League, but planning is already well underway for next season, according to Chronicle Live's Aaron Stokes. The rise of youngsters within the squad, and the ever-present Callum Wilson question have fans in our comments section putting together their summer transfer window "shopping list" for the club.

Amongst the new blood in the side are Lewis Hall, who has completed his permanent move to Newcastle after his loan spell. Elliott Anderson and Lewis Miley have also made good strides this season. Hitman Callum Wilson is still admired within the club, despite injury troubles, and remains a threat when on the pitch.

Commenter Toon77 says that the team needs a plan for post-Wilson life, however: “We need TWO more strikers. I know Gordon can play in the middle but then we lose something from one side, Big Joelinton can do a job there but in my opinion we need to keep Wilson as a bench/impact player and we need someone who will push Alex all season to start, maybe someone a bit younger."

"There's also the possiblity one of the younger players we already have could have a good pre-season and force their way in. If that happened we could offload Wilson near the end of the summer window. I really don't think our squad needs major surgery, we have Minteh to look at in the summer too.”

User Daftlad isn't convinced: “Wilson is finished as a No.1 striker, and a No.2 striker. It is not a matter if he can stay fit, because we all know he cannot. If they can get a decent price for him, he has got to go, and that is from someone who thinks that he has been a brilliant signing for us.”

Noodlebug writes: “Priorities are a top quality centre back (an upgrade on Lascelles/Burn, competition for Schar/Botman, preferably right sided) and a capable (young) striker who doesn't mind being an impact sub."

"That's assuming everyone stays, if Wilson leaves we'll need another bustling hold-up forward in his or Chris Wood's mould - ideally one that scores goals but they are hard to find, we might have to make do. Maybe Almiron and the back-up keepers will be replaced but no problem with him and Dubravka staying. We should be fine in midfield, wings and full backs.”

ChrisToonBarmyArmy says: “WILL EVERYONE stop sayin Burn is a left back, he's a central defender, as the last couple of games has shown. Need someone to replace both Almiron and Longstaff... Another striker and a replacement for Murphy and Ritchie.”

Commenter Petrus wants to see some ambition this summer: “If FFP allows, it is essential a defensive midfielder and a striker are brought in, along with another defender. We either grab the chance and move forward or trot out the same old, not up to scratch mediocre players of which we have a few."

"Replace Murphy with Minteh, Longstaff with another midfielder, and Ritchie and Dummet with new squad players who can make an impact. And search for a top goalkeeper. Our requirements will take us forward which is essential, as other clubs with stronger teams will be doing just that.”
