Newly Divorced Aja Volkman Says She'll Pay '$5' to Let an Ex Go in Fiery New Nico Vega Video (Exclusive)
PEOPLE has the exclusive premiere of Nico Vega's new '$5' music video, which arrives days after Volkman and Dan Reynolds' divorce was finalized
If breakups come with a price, Aja Volkman's is $5.
Alt-rock band Nico Vega recently returned with a fiery new single "$5" about feeling frustrated in a relationship and wanting out — even if it costs you. PEOPLE has the exclusive premiere of the song's music video, out Thursday.
The single's angsty lyrics find Volkman, 44, fed up with a complicated romance that's nearing its end — and its video arrives just days after her divorce from ex-husband, Dan Reynolds of Imagine Dragons, was finalized.

"I’m like a wild animal every time I talk to you, and I can barely stand myself no matter what I do," she sings on the first verse. "I’m ready for a page turn, I want to wipe the slate clean, I’ll pay you just a little if you will set me free."
On the track's chorus, Volkman continues, "It’s such an empty feeling to think that I’m the reason that you are always leaving me in a broken home."
"I’ll pay you $5. You think that’s what I’m worth," she adds on the refrain. "I’ll pay you $5 just to let me go."
Volkman and Reynolds' divorce was finalized on Monday, 11 months after she filed in April 2023, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE.
The former couple — who tied the knot on March 5, 2011 — cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for their split, per the documents.
The pair will share joint legal and physical custody of their four kids: daughters Arrow Eve, 11, Gia James and Coco Rae, both 6, and son Valentine, 4.

"$5" marks Nico Vega's first new music release since 2018 as well as its first with original bass player Michael Peña back following his exit from the group in 2007 to pursue acting.
"We’ve all somehow come back together by some cosmic force for the rebirth of Nico Vega," said the band in a statement. "There is a chemistry inside the dynamic of the four of us that is deep and explosive, and we couldn’t be more excited as we step into this new beginning."
Nico Vega's Volkman, Peña, guitarist Rich Koehler and drummer Dan Epand are currently gearing up to release a new album, which will feature "$5."
In support of the forthcoming project, the band will perform concerts across the U.S. throughout 2024, and ticketing information is available at their website.
