Andrew Garfield: Spider-Man Is The Best Because He's Most Human

'The Amazing Spider-Man' star Andrew Garfield has revealed that he thinks of his character as a "humble" superhero, and believes that the fact that Spidey is more like fans than other heroes are makes him better than other heroes with special powers.

According to NBC, at the Japanese premiere of the film the actor said: "Spider-Man has always been the only teenage superhero, and the most human one in my humble opinion, and that's just one of the things that sets him apart," adding: "He's all too human, that's what's wonderful about him."

Garfield may have a point, both Tony Stark (Iron Man) and Bruce Wayne (Batman), who're in The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises this summer, are eccentric billionaires, while Superman is a journalist.

Peter Parker (Spider-Man) on the other hand is an ordinary geeky teenager with the extraordinary power to behave like a particularly athletic spider when called upon to save the world from evil-doers.

Garfield, who's taken over the role from Tobey Maguire, appears to think that this ordinariness makes him a better comic book star than the other heroes who've moved from strip to screen.
