Duchess Of Cambridge Introduced To Transvestite Grayson Perry Who Called Her 'Bland' At Charity Gala

Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge proved the royal family are moving with the times last night as she was introduced to potter Grayson Perry at the National Portrait Gallery's Portrait Gala 2014 last night in London.

The Duchess, who is patron of the gallery, was the guest of honour at the charity gala last night and looked dazzling in a floor length Jenny Packham dress as she stepped out for her first royal engagement of the year.

Amongst guests were celebrities Bryan Adams and Liz Hurley, but the meeting that received most attention was between the Duchess and Mr Perry, who recently accepted his CBE from Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace.

The event was the first time an honour has been collected by a man dresses as a woman which the Palace at the time seemed perfectly fine with, a spokesman for the Queen claiming his choice of dress was "entirely appropriate".

Kate was introduced to Mr Perry, who was wearing a floor length black gown, early in the evening, with onlookers claiming that the "the girl wearing rocks had met the guy wearing frocks," referring to the priceless Nizam of Hyderabad diamond necklace the Duchess had chosen for the evening.

According to reports the couple chatted for several minutes before Kate was moved on. We wonder if Mr Perry has changed his mind about the Duchess now after calling her "bland" in 2012?

“I do find her a bit bland, generally,” he told The Telegraph at the Wallpaper Design Awards.

“It may be her advisers are to blame, or it may be she really is bland. I am sure she is very nice, but, honestly, I would rather have a loose cannon like Diana used to be.”

Proving that she's becoming more confident during her solo engagements the 33 year-old briefly addresses guests to thank them for supporting the gallery.

She said: "I just wanted to say how delighted I am to be here this evening to celebrate the fantastic work of The National Portrait Gallery. The Gallery's achievements are exceptional. They hold the most extensive collection of portraits in the world, and their unique and brilliant exhibitions never fail to inspire us all."

Kate went on: "But, it is more than simply a world renowned visitor's attraction - the Gallery's outreach and research programmes makes it one of the leading centres for the important study into Portraiture.

"I simply could not be more proud to be its Patron. Thank you for being here tonight and showing your support. I hope that you all have a wonderful evening," she added.
