He's starring in the new Mad Max film which involves a lot of him being behind the wheel of a car in some high speed scenes - something Nicholas Hoult is concerned about, especially after he once ran over a co-star.

The 23-year-old, who shot to fame after starring alongside Hugh Grant in the 2002 film 'About A Boy', stars as Nux in the upcoming film Mad Max: Fury Road and has some intense and fast driving scenes.

But being behind the wheel of a car got him all nervous as he recalled an incident when he starred alongside 'Slumdog Millionaire' star Dev Patel in the popular teen drama Skins and ended up driving over his foot - twice.

And for this reason, he is more than happy for a stuntman to take over his driving scenes in Mad Max, as he explained to Total Film magazine: "When I drove a car in Skins in one of the first weeks I ran over Dev Patel's foot and then panicked and reversed back over it and got stuck on his foot.

"Then I was really shaken up for the rest of the day feeling terrible about it, so it's probably a good thing that they're leaving it to the professionals and not letting me drive the cars?

"It's all well and good in my head and I'm like, 'I can drive!' But then you see all the other cars around and how much is going on and how talented all the drivers are - I dunno, I'd probably get all nervous and stall and panic if I was doing it," he laughed.

Mad Max: Fury Road is due for release in 2014 and also stars Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron.
