'I Introduced Her To Heroin': Amy Winehouse's Ex-Husband Blake Fielder-Civil Admits Drug Abuse Was His Fault

Amy Winehouse's ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil has admitted that the singer's heroin addiction was his fault as he introduced her to the drug during their tumultuous marriage.

Blake, who was married to the 'Back To Black' singer for two years until their divorce in 2009, sat down for a tell-all interview with Jeremy Kyle this morning in which he opened up about his controversial relationship with Amy and their chronic drug use.

Possibly for the first time, Blake admits that he was responsible for introducing Amy to drugs and says that kick-started the singer's downward spiral of addiction to drugs and alcohol, eventually resulting in her death in 2011.

“I'd taken it about three or four times, we were in a hotel in east London and I think I had about £10 of heroin with me, which is something I used to do after a club,” Blake told Jeremy.

“I was smoking it on foil and she said, 'Can I try some?' I think I might have put up a weak resistance, the fact is whatever I said she did end up having some.”

Blake continued: “I have to be really sort of conscious about what I say. I don't want to feel like I'm shirking responsibility, the fact is what I'm saying is of course I regret it.

“Not just because of the damage it's caused Amy and loss of life but the damage to her family but also to my family and also to me. You know we've all sort of gone through this addiction.”

Throughout their marriage, Blake and Amy were often spotted falling out of pubs in the early hours of the morning in her beloved hometown of Camden, bloodied and scratched and looking dishevelled. While the public were concerned about the couple for most of their marriage, Blake insists the regular drug use only lasted for a few months.

“I think some people don't know or they don't realise but as far as using heroin or crack goes, I mean the cocaine use was recreational to be honest, out of maybe a six or seven-year relationship that me and Amy had on and off there was drug use for about four months together,” Blake said.

“We used heroin together as addicts for like four months, then I went to jail, then it got a lot worse while I was in jail and then when I came out of jail, I was told that if I loved her I'd divorce her and set her free and I did.”

Blake reveals he had been in contact with Amy in the weeks before her death in July 2011, and says that they had discussed reconciling their broken relationship.

“I don't know what dates they were from because when I turned the phone on they were there but there was one talking about being a godmother to Jack (his son),” Blake explained.

“We had sort of spoken in the previous weeks about her visiting me and we had had maybe one emotional phone call when we'd said 'are we thinking about maybe getting back together at some point?'”

Amy's father Mitch Winehouse was forced to deny that Blake had donated the money received from the Jeremy Kyle interview, to the charity set up by the singer's family in her name after her death.
