Jay-Z & Robert De Niro Have 'Heated Discussion' At Leonardo DiCaprio's Birthday Dinner

Jay-Z is said to have gotten into a heated discussion with in an NYC restaurant with Robert De Niro this week, after the actor was allegedly furious with the rapper dodging his phonecalls.

The 'Watch The Throne' rapper was dining at The Darby on Saturday night to celebrate actor Leonardo DiCaprio's 38th birthday when things are said to have turned slightly sour when De Niro confronted Jay about not returning his phonecalls.

Apparently, Jay-Z had agreed to record a track about the Tribeca Film Festival, which De Niro had a role in, but the rapper supposedly failed to fulfill his promise, prompting De Niro to contact Jay-Z by phone.

"Bob was sitting at a table, and when Jay-Z went over to say hello, De Niro told Jay that he never called him back," Jay-Z told the New York Post.

"Bob wasn't in any mood to make polite conversation. He told Jay that if somebody calls you six times, you call them back. It doesn't matter who you are, that is just rude."

"De Niro kept telling him that he thinks he's the man, but that he was disrespectful," the source added.

Another insider claimed that it was a battle of egos with both believing that they were in the right and while Jay-Z's wife Beyonce waded in to defuse the situation, the mood was still tense.

"Everyone was saying there's only one star in New York bigger and badder than Jay-Z, and that's Robert De Niro. He can be quite scary when he's angry," the source added. A source close to De Niro confirmed that the pair had words but it was a "low-key conversation."
