Jonnie Irwin has revealed he is having oxygen therapy at home in an attempt to treat his cancer.

The former A Place In The Sun presenter – who announced in November 2022 he has terminal lung cancer – has been watching TV in a pop-up oxygen chamber, following ongoing research that hyperbaric oxygen therapy may help slow the growth of cancer tumours.

Irwin, 49, shared a series of picture on Instagram, saying: "I can’t tell you how happy I am with the Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber lent to me by @o2worx. It’s great for people with my condition but also for recovery from injuries and general wellness. I’m not gonna preach but if you’re interested Google it- you’ll be surprised!

"This chamber is perfect for me, no feelings of claustrophobia and it’s just big enough to get my favourite comfy chair in it! I actually look forward to each session knowing that’s it’s doing me good whilst being able to do a bit of work (watching Netflix shhh!) I’m currently in it now!"

Research is still ongoing as to whether oxygen therapy can slow tumour growth and boost the effectiveness of cancer treatment.

Irwin also shared a video of him running around the sitting room with his three sons – four-and-a-half-year-old Rex and three-year-old twins Rafa and Cormac – while they watched CBeebies on TV.

He said: "Movie night ended with shuttle runs coached by @therealnihal . Felt more like a bleep test."

The Escape To The Country star was given six months by doctors to live back in 2020 and kept his diagnosis a secret from TV producers because he feared losing his job.

He is currently undergoing palliative care for his incurable cancer which has spread to his brain.

Irwin has previously said doctors did not expect him to see 2023.

They married in 2016 and enjoyed a honeymoon in the Lake District.

The couple are currently renovating their dream family home together in Newcastle Upon Tyne.

Irwin recently revealed his cancer is "on the move".

He has updated fans throughout the summer with photos of himself making the most of time with his family.

Irwin kept his diagnosis a secret for two years, and when he told producers of the Channel 4 holiday property show he had terminal cancer, he was dropped because he was told they were unable to insure him to work.

He said he felt "thrown on the scrap heap".

Chemotherapy and cancer drugs have helped extend the initial prognosis and the TV presenter is determined to make the most of any time he has left with his family.

Irwin attended the TRIC Awards in June and said: "I wanted to show that because you have cancer it doesn't mean you are a different person.

“You can still work. Look at me now. I don't think the doctors were expecting me to make 2023 but here I am and I'm available at work."
