British thesp Paul Bettany has reportedly been enlisted to star in the forthcoming Avengers sequel, Age Of Ultron.

The Wimbledon star had previously voiced Iron Man's computer, but is now allegedly being promoted to a full-on human role: specifically The Vision.

Deadline states that the deal is all signed and sealed, and Bettany will join returning stars Robert Downey Jnr as Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evans as Captain America, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk.

Furthermore, according to the Daily Mail, the 42-year-old was spotted with Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) at Shepperton Studios to meet with director Joss Whedon.

Bettany is due to make his directorial debut with indie drama Shelter, starring Jennifer Connolly and Anthony Mackie. He's also set to star in Johnny Depp thriller Transcendence.

His credits include The Young Victoria, The Tourist, The Da Vinci Code and A Beautiful Mind. He also played Chaucer in A Knight's Tale.

The Avengers: Age Of Ultron is tentatively slated for a release date of May 1, 2015, following the astronomical success of the first movie last year.
