WATCH: Does Kate Middleton, Duchess Of Cambridge Have A Crush On Idris Elba? Gets Giggly At Royal Premiere

Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge has become the latest lady to fall under the spell of British hunk Idris Elba with the royal getting pretty giggly with the actor when meeting him at the royal premiere of Mandela: A Long Walk To Freedom last week.

Elba takes on the lead role of the former South African president, who sadly passed away last week, in the movie and has been tipped for Oscar success for the role. Well he's certainly won the royal seal of approval if Kate's reaction is anything to go by.

The Luther star first met Kate's other half Prince William, who spoke briefly to the actor. In comparison to the Duchess though he wasn't half so star struck. While she might have started off being pretty polite, Idris soon had the royal in stitches as she joked with him for a few minutes.

At one point an aide even attempts to tear Kate away, but clearly enamoured by the actor she carried on eagerly chatting to him.

The British actor has long been considered quite a sex symbol, however Elba has always been pretty modest when it comes to his popularity with the ladies.

He told British GQ earlier this year: "The irony is I wake up every morning, look at myself in the mirror and think, 'Woah, I look like a piece of s***’… You watch yourself age and it’s hard to feel like a sex symbol.

“But it’s a compliment and it’s a massive tool to use in sculpting a career, especially with what I do for a living because I work in the face business. So it’s a compliment and I use it accordingly.”

While it was a happy and jovial mood on the red carpet last Thursday in London's Lecister Square things soon took a somber turn as it was revealed the president had sadly passed away just half an hour before the screening of the movie.

The audience, which included the royals and those from the movie, including leads Idris Elba and Naomie Harris, were told at the end of the film, with a two minute silence held in his honour.

Paying tribute following the sad news, Elba reportedly said, E! News reported: "What an honour it was to step into the shoes of Nelson Mandela and portray a man who defied odds, broke down barriers, and championed human rights before the eyes of the world. My thoughts and prayers are with his family."

While the royals also praised the world leader as they left the theatre: "I just wanted to say it's extremely sad and tragic news. We were just reminded what an extraordinary and inspiring man Nelson Mandela was. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family. It's very sad."
