Next UK heatwave to hit next weekend with three parts of England hottest

New maps show the exact dates a 600 mile heatwave scorches the UK before the end of the month. A new map, projected by WX Charts, using Met Desk, shows a mini heatwave with 25C highs could hit the country before June arrives.

The maps show the hottest parts of the country will be London, Cambridgeshire and Norfolk. But the heatwave won't hit everywhere - with the Midlands languishing in the low-twenties, and Scotland barely rising above the teens. The south west of England, too, is set to experience highs of just 18C on Saturday May 25.

Meteorologist Jim Dale also said that "in 10 or so days time we may be seeing levels that we saw in the last few days". Looking ahead to the rest of the month, Netweather TV said: "It looks set to remain wet but rather warm, but with some shifts in the pressure patterns, with lowest pressure becoming centred to the west and north-west of Britain, resulting in frequent southerly and south-westerly winds.

"This means that the driest weather will often be in the north and east of Scotland, sheltered from the south to south-westerly winds, and in these regions rainfall is expected to be near normal. Elsewhere it will tend to be wetter than average again, and the south-west of Britain is again especially likely to see frequent rain.

"Temperatures are expected to be above average, especially in the north and east of Britain, but potentially near average in south Wales and south-west England and in Northern Ireland. There is potential for brief hot thundery interludes to affect mainly southern and eastern parts of England.

"Sunshine may end up near or slightly above average in northern and eastern Scotland and eastern England, but it is likely to be somewhat cloudier than average again in south-western Britain." And Met Office meteorologist Alex Deakin said: "There are hints of high pressure but it is far from nailed on."
