I’m A Celebrity star Nick Knowles has joined the race for Christmas number one after a campaign was launched to get his cover of Adele’s Make You Feel My Love into the iTunes’ chart.

Radio X host Chris Moyles encouraged listeners to buy the track from Knowles’ 2017 debut album Every Kind of People.

The track shot up the chart on Wednesday morning to take the number one spot, beating Jess Glynne, Liam Payne and Rita Ora among others.

Speaking on his breakfast show, Moyles said: “This is not a Chris Moyles Show campaign, this is just a campaign to get Nick Knowles into the top 40. So it’s not just us, everyone can take part.

“Let’s see if we can get Nick Knowles into the chart… Someone’s texted in saying ‘imagine he gets back from the jungle and he’s got a top 10 single in the chart’. Oh he’d be delighted, wouldn’t he?”

Knowles’ official Twitter account acknowledged the campaign and thanked Moyles for helping the DIY SOS presenter to climb the charts.

The tweet read: “INCREDIBLE. Nick is Number 1. @ChrisMoyles you are a legend!”

But he’ll face tough competition from Ariana Grande and Sir Elton John who are the current favourites to bag this year’s Christmas number one.

Knowles opened up about his musical flare on I'm A Celebrity, telling fellow camp mate Emily Atack that Universal approached him to make an album.

“My brother’s a really good musician and I’ve always played along with him and a couple of years ago somebody heard me, I was playing on a rooftop bar in Soho with some other bands,” he said.

“Somebody from a record company saw me doing it and I got a phone call saying, ‘I’m from Universal, want to do an album?’”

Knowles said he didn't want to disclose who he shared a stage with, but Biffy Clyro later confirmed it was them, tweeting: “#BiffyClyroNotEmbarrassedTheyJammedWithNickKnowles.”

Knowles is currently enduring life in the jungle alongside stars including Harry Redknapp, James McVey, John Barrowman and Anne Hegerty.
