Speaking to Digital Spy, she said she thinks it’s good that the music theatre mogul was left ‘furious’ when she pulled out of the Broadway production.

“Well, that just means that he’s passionate about me and he believes in me,” she said. “He only wants the best for me, and Andrew and I are all good.”

"We did a show together in Austria. I love him and [his wife] Maddy, they’re family to me, and I can’t wait for us to create together and work together and create history, because he’s a legend.”

However, Nicole says the decision was ‘obvious’ and performing in Cats was never going to be an option with X Factor on the table.

“I chose to do The X Factor for the obvious reasons – obviously I love my job, I love what I do and I’m damn good at it,” she laughed. “But it allows me to do other things.

"I just finished Dirty Dancing, the movie. I have another movie coming out this year with Disney, and I’m able to work on my music – and time is everything. Time and timing is everything.”

Back in May Andrew revealed that Nicole had ditched the opportunity to star in the Broadway version of Cats to rejoin the X Factor, saying at the time that she was ‘crazy’ and had made him ‘look a t*at’.

“I mean, she’s crazy. But the American producers just took a view - ‘Well, fine, we’ll get somebody else’, because she’s actually not very well known in America amazingly. She’s much better known here,” he said, adding:

“I’m furious because I really believe she’s the most fantastically talented girl and I went out on a limb to get her for the London Palladium here, and it makes me look like an absolute tw*t with them all.”
