Late-night Epsom fight leads to four arrests, including for attempted murder

Officers have arrested four people after a late-night fight in Epsom and confirmed an increased police presence in the area around Godwin Close. The incident happened after 11.30pm on Thursday (June 27) and saw emergency services respond to a report of a fight.

Three men in their 30s, 40s, and 50s, as well as a woman in her 40s have been arrested for a number of offences, including attempted murder, grievous bodily harm and affray. The quartet are said by police to be known to each other and there is thought to be no wider threat to the community.

All four remain in custody while an investigation is ongoing. Borough Commander for Epsom and Ewell, Inspector Kelly Clifton-Sinclair, said: “I would like to reassure residents in Epsom that this was an isolated incident and those arrested were all known to each other.

“We do not have any wider concerns for the safety of the community.” They added: “We have increased patrols in the local area for reassurance purposes and enquiries are ongoing.

“We are also appealing to anyone who was in the area of Godwin Road at around 11.45pm and may have witnessed anything.” Information can be shared with police quoting reference PR/45240072989.
