Night At The Museum Pays Tribute To Williams

Stars of the latest film in the Night At The Museum series have paid tribute to "kind and warm" Robin Williams, who makes one of his final appearances in the film.

The comedian - who stars as US President Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt in Night At The Museum: Secret Of The Tomb - was found dead at his home in Tiburon, California, on 11 August.

A coroner later ruled Williams had committed suicide.

Ben Stiller, who reprises his role as night guard Larry Daley, spoke to Sky News at the film's European premiere in Leicester Square.

He said of Williams: "Robin, I was always a fan since I was about 13 years old so, for me, I never got over that when working with him.

"You know, I just felt I had the opportunity to get to know him a little bit. He was incredibly kind and warm and generous, and the persona on screen that everybody sees - that's really who he was."

Ricky Gervais, who was also on the blue carpet, added: "Always funny. Always on. If he had a second between breaks he could entertain the crew. You would watch him go. Just really really lovely."

Owen Wilson, who plays "little cowboy" Jedediah said Williams was always "warm and curious".

"He had a great sense of humour, a real kindness and humility. For someone who could have so easily carried himself as a bigshot, he never did."

Sir Ben Kingsley, who is the series for the first time as Egyptian Pharaoh Merenkahre, said Williams had "dignity, wisdom, a unique charm and sense of humour".

Former Downton Abbey star Dan Stevens, who joins the cast as Sir Lancelot, added that it was "amazing" just to have met the comedian.

"He's one of my heroes and one of Ben's heroes growing up and was such an inspiration to us all. He had a spirit of play and was a big kid so we are going to celebrate tonight as much as we can."

Australian actress Rebel Wilson, who plays a security guard, revealed she got to forge a bond with the comic during filming.

She said: "I got to hang out with him when we were shooting the movie in London. I feel very blessed to have had the chance to talk about comedy and movies with him."

Night At The Museum: Secret Of The Tomb, sees Larry and his friends head to the British Museum to save the magical powers of the Tablet of Ahkmenrah.

The film opens in UK cinemas on 19 December.
