Nine Tweets that show not even Donald Trump agrees with Trump’s Syria attack
Just before Donald Trump authorised a Tomahawk missile strike on Syria’s Shayrat air base Hillary Clinton had called for airstrikes against Syria.
Clinton’s support for the move highlights the fact that Trump campaigned specifically on a commitment not to get involved in Syria.

During and before his election campaign, Trump was highly critical of Obama’s involvement in Syria – repeatedly calling for America to ‘stay out’ of the conflict.

In a series of Tweets between 2013 and 2015, Trump was highly vocal in his opposition to air strikes and American involvement.
In the wake off this morning’s air strikes, Twitter users are circulating many of these again – in particular two which called on President Obama to seek congressional approval before air strikes.
Donald Trump was backed by the UK, Israel and Australia in the wake of the move, with the attacks described as ‘appropriate’ and ‘just’.
About 60 Tomahawk missiles hit the Shayrat air base at 3.45am, fired from two warships in the Mediterranean sea.
