No, the Albanian PM didn’t call the US 'the devil'

A short clip of a press conference held by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama has gone viral on social media. The accounts sharing it claim that the Albanian leader called the United States “one of the three evils of the world”. But the video clip was misleadingly edited and the Albanian prime minister was in fact referring to the Albanian dictatorship of the 1980s.

A 20-second video clip showing a press conference given by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Edi Rama, prime minister of Albania, garnered millions of views on social media in June. A caption was added to the video, saying in English: “The Prime Minister of Albania talks about the three evil things in the world in front of Blinken (lotta balls on him).” In the video Mr. Rama is heard apparently saying in English that the “three devils” of the world are “the United States, the Soviet Union and Israel” and adding that “in other words, American imperialism, Soviet social imperialism and Jewish Zionism”.
