Noel Gallagher has misgendered Sam Smith in a foul-mouthed rant against the non-binary singer's music.

The former Oasis star called the I'm Not Here To Make Friends singer a "f***ing idiot" as well as using the pronoun "him" as he discussed the state of pop music on Dutch radio station Kink.

Gallagher, 55, said: "Music has become quite fractured and chart music is dominated by pop. Pop is alright, if the pop stars are cool, sadly the pop stars of today are f***ing idiots."

Smith has spoken openly about their fluid gender identity for many years before announcing coming out as non-binary in 2019 and changing their gender pronouns.

They said back in 2017: "I feel just as much woman as I am man."

“I got teased for it. But there were also people respecting me for walking around like that in my school.”

The Unholy singer recently revealed they had been spat at in the street since coming out as non-binary.

“Someone spat at me in the street. It’s crazy.”

The Stay With Me singer said that speaking out about their pronouns had not caused “one negative” in their personal life.
