'Noises Off' cast announced

Dec. 29—GREENSBURG — Tree County Players recently announced the cast for their upcoming production of that classic British comedy "Noises Off."

This comedy, directed by Jeff Lincourt, is scheduled for 7 p.m. February 2 and 3 and 2 p.m. February 4.

Called "the funniest farce ever written," the show presents a manic menagerie of itinerant actors rehearsing a flop called "Nothing's On."

Doors slamming, on and offstage intrigue, and an errant herring all figure in the plot of this hilarious and classically comic play.

This play will be of particular interest to TCP patrons, not only because it offers a typically well-rehearsed evening of entertainment but because of the set itself.

Director Jeff Lincourt, also a talented carpenter, designed a set that rotates.

"I always wanted to build a set like this, and so I decided I would direct the play," Lincourt said.

Open auditions were held for everyone in the community. The prospective cast members were judged on their ability to read the parts and play off each other.

Lincourt said audiences should expect a very funny show with a couple of surprises.

"I've been asked by many if the show is kid friendly. I would say that this show is rated PG. There are no f-bombs, but there is some colorful language and some innuendos that children -and probably some adults — just won't get," he said.

"Noises Off" assistant director is Cathy Lincourt, with Amanda Gault producing.

Tickets prices are $15 for TCP non-members, $12 for members and $5 for children; they can be purchased by visiting www.treecountyplayers.com or by calling the Playhouse at (812) 222-4766.
